Reid “Kid Icarius” Friedl is a performer/choreographer trained in all styles of dance. He is currently attending classes at Shelleys Dance Company and The Kore Dance Studio. He is also a member of NXG Company and a director of ROSTER. Not only is Reid a member of the dance studio community, he is also actively involved in the underground scene in Edmonton. His main goal is to bring a more artistic side of dance to the forefront through his choreography, concepts and performances. He recently started his own crew, ROSTER to bring forth a different side of hip hop, showing it can still be amazing, entertaining, and an art form without relying on hype to do so. Being the 2011 Northern Star Talent Search Winner, a representative and performer of Northlands, a hired choreographer (most recent Bridal Fantasy Edmonton/Calgary), assistant teacher to Tara-Jean Popowich, Vincent Desjardins and Alex Wong, and hired dancer, he has started his dream to make an impact on the dance scene! Among his many performance and teaching opportunities over his years of training, Reid has recently been highlighted on national dance magazine “IDM” (Industry Dance Magazine) alongside other industry professionals such as Benjamin Ritter, Joel Sturrock, Stacey Tookey, Sean Cheesman, etc. NXG Company, the crew he is a part of, recently won 1st place at WOD in Hawaii, placed in Vancouver, and achieved a top placing at HHI (Hip Hop International) in Vegas. Recently, Reid has been added to the Fresh Dance Intensive teaching and assisting faculty, running out of Juilliard School in New York. He was invited to tour all over Canada to further expand and share his knowledge of dance and the art of movement to other dancers. He has also taught master classes in Canada, British Columbia and recently taught in Hawaii.
