To achieve it, he watched, observed, met and pleaded with musicians for an opportunity to sing in light music shows and wedding events, among others. His difficult financial situation never allowed him to learn music formally. But the burning determination within him led him to master hundreds of songs just by listening to them over and over until he had them internalized. Diwakar’s persistence paid off too. He participated in musical competitions on Zee Tamil, Jaya TV’s Hariyudan Naan as well as in Raj TV and SUN TV. All of these positive exposures prepared him for his participation in the mega Airtel Super Singer show on Vijay TV- a pivotal journey that took Diwakar from his native place to the homes and hearts of millions across the globe. With the apt training and corrections where needed, Diwakar or Diwa, as he is fondly known, grew in leaps and bounds as a professional singer-cum-entertainer. It was almost magical watching Diwa outdoing himself with each performance. Every song in every genre sounded so rejuvenating in his uniquely powerful yet sweet voice. Having had no formal music background, one could only regard Diwa’s grasping, miking and breath-control techniques as a gift from the Almighty. Diwa’s grand journey to becoming the Super Singer Season 4 title winner, began with him singing Vaan Uyarntha Sollaiyille and Gananayakaya during the auditions. The mesmerized judges selected him. He went on to receive amazing comments and praises from the legends of the music world, such as S.P. Balasubramaniam, T. L Maharajan, S. P Shailaja, L.R. Eswari, M.S Vishvanathan, Usha Udup, Vani Jeyaram, P. Susheela, S. Janaki and numerous praises from the three main judges Srinivas, Unni Krishnan and Sujatha and part time judges Mano, Vijay Prakash, Malgudi Shuba et al. The highlight was when a highly impressed, great A. R. Rahman who was the special invitee of the top five celebration round that was dedicated to the legend with his compositions, made a special request to Diwa to sing another song. Diwa was the first to enter Top 30 and the first also to enter Top 3. In the Grand Finale, in the most befitting style, Diwa set the party mood going with the catchy Hamma Hamma from the movie 'Bombay'. He then sealed the deal with an explosive performance, exhibiting remarkable talent by performing the evergreen duet ‘Neeye unakku endrum’ ON HIS OWN. His winning performance led the great legendary singer of yesteryears, S. Janaki who was spellbound, to walk up the stage and praise and bless Diwa. To match the grandeur of the moment, Diwa’s magical singing and humble mannerism won him a huge fan following which translated into a record number of votes of 729,000.
