Rajnigandha Shekhawat fuses Folk, Sufi and Thumri with contemporary sounds, to create her own unique and quirky sound. Her first film Margarita with a Straw used her traditional Hindistani classical vocals and Monsoon Shootout, Anurag Kashyap’s unreleased film uses her full powered vocals for a soon to release item number. Belonging to the traditional and reputed family of Malsisar, Shekhawati in Rajasthan, Rajnigandha has spent her childhood in Jaipur, studying in Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls school (MGD School). Aside from music, she has a career in marketing and publicity of movies, actors/musicians and runs her own boutique consultancy in Mumbai. She has completed her Visharad and MA in Indian Classical Music (from Maharaja Sawai Mansingh Sangeet Vidyalaya, Jaipur & SNDT University, Mumbai).
